I know this is not video games related. This is one of my journalism degree assignments*.
There are some dystopian shows that can attract a wide range of viewers, even those who are not traditionally fans of that genre, thanks to their deep story, plot twists and character development. One of those shows is Silo.
The TV show is based on the Silo books trilogy by author Hugh Howey and is brought to life by Graham Yost who has worked as a writer on acclaimed films and TV shows like Speed and The Pacific. On the leading roles we see Rebecca Fergusson, known from Dune and Mission Impossible, Rashida Jones from Parks and Recreation, David Oyelowo known from Spooks and Academy Award winner Tim Robbins.
One season of 10 episodes, with 50 minutes running time on average, is currently available on Apple TV + and a second season is confirmed.
The Silo is a massive underground construction that goes hundreds of levels deep below the surface of earth, hosting approximately 10,000 citizens. We are introduced to the sheriff of this dystopian underground community and at first we are almost tricked into thinking who the leading roles of the show are. As the programme progresses, we are introduced to more characters and as the story weaves we discover more and more of the Silo’s dark secrets and history but also who is really the leading character and what is their role and duty in this post-apocalyptic world.
The cast and producers did an exceptional job in recreating a futuristic but at the same time primitive, light-deprived environment, showcasing a fully functional society that exists hundreds of meters underground with all the challenges of a closed community. They don’t know anything else so this is the norm for them, however, human curiosity can never be taken away, which is a prevalent subject of this TV show.

*I got valuable feedback about how to write a TV-show review after I submitted it, but this is the original version.
